CONSTRUCTION SUMMARY
August 20, 2010
In June of 2006, Ogden City voters approved a $95.3 million dollar bond to be used for new construction as well as renovation of schools. The Ogden School District is currently constructing or has completed construction on seven different projects. The construction projects being funded by the bond are listed below:

·         The new northwest school, Heritage Elementary, near 2nd Street and Wall Avenue (373 S. 150W.) is complete. It opened fall 2008, and houses the students who attended the now closed Lynn Elementary School.
·         The first phase of the re-build on Ben Lomond High School was completed in March 2009. This included the construction of approximately 25 classrooms along with new cafeteria and commons area.    The second phase of construction will be completed next month. This includes the new Media Center, new office area, and a ‘facelift’ to areas not replaced by new construction. The entry of the school has been changed to face 9th Street in a southeasterly direction. The school’s new address is 1080 9th Street.
·         New construction as well as remodeling projects is completed at our three junior high schools: Highland, Mound Fort and Mount Ogden. These projects are due in part to the grade configuration placing ninth graders into these schools. Highland has a new media center on the southeast side of the building with the old media center becoming classroom space. In addition, the cafeteria and science rooms have been enlarged and remodeled. Mound Fort received a new science classroom wing attached to the south side of the building. Mount Ogden has a new media center; the current media center was remodeled into two classrooms, and the science rooms have been upgraded. All of these projects were completed in time for the opening of school in the fall of 2008
·         Shadow Valley Elementary, in the southeast area of the city, opened the fall of 2009. The school has an environmental science theme, and has a very successful partnership with The Nature Center. The students who were attending Grandview Elementary School are housed in this building.
·         Ogden High School construction includes a new Athletic Complex which is now occupied. The cafeteria area remodel/expansion was completed and occupied in the fall of 2009. This includes a new open space ‘quad’ area among the current and future buildings. The current Phase II includes the remodel of the old gym area into a two story complex housing new science rooms and performing arts rooms, as well as the renovation of the auditorium in partnership with the Ogden School Foundation which is accepting funds for the project. Phase II is projected to conclude in August of 2011.
·         The district continues to work on the placement of an elementary school building on the district campus, replacing Dee Elementary School. Recently the district secured the land where the Army and Navy Reserve buildings sit as well as the LDS building facing 20th Street. Construction timelines are dependent upon securing funding, preparing the land, and designing the school.

Note: The transition from the current grade configuration to a K-6 elementary, 7-9 junior high school and 10-12 high school was fully implemented in the fall of 2008.
